About The Owner

Qualifications: Licensed Professional Counselor - Mental Health Service Provider; National Certified Counselor; Certified Equine Assisted Psychotherapist through EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association); Certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) I & II through EMDRIA (EMDR International Association); Certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management); Certified in Trauma-Informed Yoga for Mental Health Clinical Practice. 8 years of experience in community mental health: 1 year as a Crisis Counselor under a FEMA grant for those affected by the Floods in TN in 2010; 1 year of experience as a Community Support Specialist with Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) assisting low-income Veterans and their families to obtain housing with a Federal grant through the VA; 6 years clinical experience working as a Crisis Counselor serving people in immediate mental health crisis, at times experiencing suicidal and/or homicidal thoughts, or psychosis. May 2017 to current working in private practice with a group of counselors at Cedars Counseling seeing individuals, couples, and families. All but dissertation completed of Clinical Counseling Supervision and Teaching PhD through Trevecca Nazarene University. Equine experience: Riding since age 4; competing since age 11 in 4H, United States Pony Club, and United States Eventing Association; worked as a tech/assistant at Nolensville Veterinary Equine Facility for 3 years in High School and college; worked for Debbie Atkinson event rider/trainer at Hillview Farm in Thompson Station, TN as a working student for 2 years, and as a groom at horse shows for 1 year; taught riding lessons at Summer camp for Peachtree Farm in 2003; taught riding lessons on Saturdays and weekends intermittently at Peachtree Farm and at Hillview Farm from 2003 to current.
